Muitas vezes temos problemas com os nossos carros, então hoje vamos aprender algumas palavras e expressões úteis sobre esses problemas.
1. flat tire – pneu furado
It seems we have a flat tire. – Parece que o pneu está furado.
2. jack - macaco
Let’s get the jack and lift up the car. – Vamos pegar o macaco e levantar o carro.
3. spare tire – estepe, pneu sobressalente
Let’s get the spare tire. – Vamos pegar o estepe.
4. break down – quebrar, enguiçar
The car has broken down. – O carro quebrou.
5. tow truck – guincho
Let’s call a tow truck. – Vamos chamar um guincho.
6. to tow away – guinchar
The car will have to be towed away. – O carro terá de ser guinchado.
7. to lock – trancar
I’ve locked the keys inside. – Tranquei as chaves dentro do carro.
8. to start - pegar (carro)
It won’t start. – O carro não quer pegar.
9. to stall – morrer (carro)
It keeps stalling. – O carro fica morrendo.
10. to overheat – esquentar (carro)
It’s overheating. – O carro está esquentando.
11. brakes - freio
The brakes don’t seem to be working. – O freio não parece estar funcionando.
12. to recharge – recarregar
The battery has to be recharged. – A bateria precisa ser recarregada.
13. gearbox - caixa de câmbio
There’s a problem with the gearbox. – Há um problema com a caixa de câmbio.
14. to leak – vazar
It’s leaking oil. – Está vazando óleo.
